Technical language, coherent structure, and the absence of verbal doubt create a false sense of authority. The researchers propose that AI companies implement external medical verification systems before allowing their models to answer health queries, something no company has systematically adopted so far.

Tension Between Innovation and Responsibility

The open letter and the medical study represent two sides of the same coin: AI is advancing faster than our collective ability to understand its risks. Tech companies prioritize speed and mass adoption; regulators are three steps behind; users trust by default. This combination creates perfect conditions for avoidable disasters. The letter's signatories don't ask to stop AI development, but they do insist that the pace of innovation must be matched by equivalent investment in safety, ethics, and governance. "You can't launch systems that affect millions of lives and fix the problems later.
